Welcome
Hello and welcome to my personal website!
I’m Søren, a computational scientist currently working as a Physical Science Research Scientist in the Energy Science & Engineering Department at Stanford University. Previously, I was a Research Scientist at the former Future Concepts Division of SRI International. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have been tackling a host of challenging multi-scale and multi-physics problems ranging from shocked-particle laden flows and 3D printing to $\mathrm{CO}_2$-injection induced seismicity. I am interested in efficient, predictive modeling of multi-physics systems by utilizing tools from uncertainty quantification (UQ), deep learning, and high-performance computing, among others.
I want to be at the forefront of scientific machine learning, where a combination of traditional physics-based modeling and novel data-driven solutions such as neural operators and graph neural networks can deliver groundbreaking advances in science and technology. Such hybrid approaches enable more efficient forward and inverse UQ and are thus essential for achieving computationally viable predictive scientific computing.
Please check out some of my past projects under the Portfolio tab and a list of publications under the Publications tab.
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and exploring the big cultural hubs of this planet. On occasion, I also find myself contemplating about the mysteries of the Universe and wondering when Quantum Mechanics and Einstein’s theory of General Relativity will finally be reconciled…
Have a great day!
-Søren
